Sculptural flowers made of colored porcelain, as seen in Susan’s functional and decorative pottery and in her unique ceramic jewelry, start with the ancient and magical process of Nerikomi. Blending colorants into porcelain, Susan forms subtle patterns into her medium, then builds complex blocks to create the designs that become petal, stamen, seed and leaf. In this demonstration, Susan will share her techniques and answer questions about the process, her inspiration, and her passion for sharing the beauty of the natural world with others through her work in clay.
