I have been painting botanicals for 40 years and still become inspired with natures palette. I teach art classes on cruise ships as well as my studio. I have participated in many juried shows as well as solo shows. I am intrigued by the smallest bits of nature and get lost in the process.
About the Demonstration
This work has a unique preparation. I artfully place leaves, vines, berries and flowers on watercolor paper. I stack the papers, clamp together and boil them in water with a mordant for 3 hours. The papers have now been dyed with natural botanical images and color. I rinse dry and paint over the subtle images using a variety of mediums I study the images and let them inspire my paintings. It is a wonderfully random and creative process which inspires me endlessly.
